  5. don't blame protesters for looters, they are almost never the same people. looters don't care about politics, they are just using the opportunities provided by the police's focus on the protests, or the fact that police have no access to an area because they're being blocked by protesters - which is generally legitimate, given how police abuse protesters. there have been many occasions including in the US BLM protests last year where police have been shown to be ignoring looters and only fighting and arresting protesters, because the looters deligitimize the protests in the eyes of the public and the police want that. in some cases, there are undercover cops or cop allies (agent provocateurs) among the protesters who instigate violence and vandalism in order to create an excuse for the police to crack down.
