that costs an insane amount of money and serves no purpose, so how about no?

@nkbali5473 for one, no, absolutely not, space programs are not high return on investment ventures in any way. the thing to invest in for that is education. and earth-orbiting manned space stations in particular are known for having probably the worst cost-benefit ratio of all space ventures. keeping those astronauts alive is extremely expensive, and there is hardly anything of use for them to do up there.

@Nmax no, too much money for india, which is poorer than russia and in dire need of basic infrastructure like sewage treatment.

@arandomguy8978 manned space stations are probably the worst thing one can do in space exploration in terms of cost to usefulness ratio. they are super expensive compared to various unmanned spacecraft, and barely serve any purpose. the people on the ISS are basically given high school science experiments as busy work to complete the picture of them being up there for the purpose of national bragging rights. replicating that is the last thing india should do in space exploration, it's a big step backwards from a lunar rover while costing much more.

@arandomguy8978 I didn't say that, I said that all manned space stations are such a waste of money. I am aware that the ISS would be too expensive for india to replicate. but india could do other space projects more useful than the ISS for less money. like this rover. manned space stations just don't make sense from a trchnical standpoint, unless you're investigating the effects of weightlessness on astronauts, which has been done and published enough. btw with the americans calling theirs astronauts and the russians calling theirs cosmonauts, will india make up its own name? :D

@arandomguy8978 space stations being a waste of money is a given, that can't be overcome by smart management. well, I suppose it is a reasonable intermediate development stage for manned spaceships to fly to the moon or mars, but such space travel is certainly not going to be attainable for india for several decades to come, and by then it's likely that india will be able to access and build on the results of technological developments of richer space programs that would make india's own then-old tech obsolete for a fraction of the cost that india would incur from operating its own space station a decade or two from now.
