if erdogan gets reelected, that's going to be a big problem. turkey can't take another 5 years of his governance, that would come to some kind of alternative end. and it looks to me like that's very likely to happen, given the first round results. I give it a 15:1 chance that erdogan wins at this point.

interesting, but makes sense, I guess. here in germany, the turkish voters abroad always vote for erdogan with a much bigger margin than the people in turkey. but most of the turks in germany are the 1st-3rd generation of a big campaign west germany had I think in the 70s of inviting manual labourers from turkey to work here temporarily (many stayed permanently), and that campaign attracted largely rural turks with lower education levels, since those were the people to whom manual jobs paying german wages were most attractive. personally, I find it unreasonable to let people who are registered as living abroad vote at all.
