I would really like to know how much these highly irregularly shaped things cost to install. I'm sure they cost several times what a straight boxy option would costy and of course they already had stuff on there that probably didn't need to be replaced.

thanks for calling them out - the situation should be such that companies pushing to get away with less than the legal barr minimum of customer service and honesty get punished for it by way of people not buying their products to a high wnough degree that the revenue lost is bigger than the expenses saved. I would even say that this used to be the default expectation by which most companies conducted their business in decades past: to build a brand that people trust. nowadays, some of the biggest companies like apple and tesla are normalising business practices akin to small time scammers!

@I'm A Black Milk In America those things aren't molded, they're welded together from flat steel probably cut by water jet. and cutting and putting together straight parts is always much cheaper than making irregular ahapes.

the link between software problems and electric drive is purely that the car makers are branding their EVs as high tech and use the shift to electric drive as an opportunity to also increase the prominence of the onboard computer. if we're talking directly about the functioning of the motor, then the electronic motor control units used by combustion cars have probably been more complex for the last 60+ years than the control unit of a brushless motor, and nowadays they're certainly more complex than the entire motor and battery control system that's also measuring temperatures and what not. of course a brushed motor would require no electronics at all, but I'm sure that no modern EV uses those.

I'm calling it, unshaven louis calling for government regulation is the beginning of him turning into a bearded communist!

the way I look at it is that musk punished tesla customers by removing a feature from the cars they bought... that's very unreasonable. not by musk's standards though, it's not nearly as dumb as rebranding twitter as X.

yeah I've been finding it quite amusing to hear people complain about how apparently the legal streaming route is requiring an ever-growing number of separate streaming subscriptions. and I haven't checked, but it sounds like there are people with like five film and TV subscriptions whose total monthly fees approach $100? or at least over $50? uhm... guys, there are probably at least a dozen websites of which each one alone is very likely to have every show and movie you're watching for free.
