  1. no joke, between the sort of surveillance being trialed in china and robot enforcers, government control is going to increase to horrifying degrees in most countries over the coming decades. we're going to look back and see as the good old days the times when the government didn't run every phone call, text, email, post, social media message, and conversation held in the presence of a microphone on an internet-connected device through an AI that understands every sentence (once they get quantum computers going, the processing power will suffice). it used to be that governments in free countries weren't even allowed to read your mail! compare that to the fit that western countries are currently throwing about messengers like telegram just because they're not letting governments eavesdrop!
