  2. the soviets put out a burning gas well on land with an underground nuke once. it worked really really well, no pun intended.

  3. correction: the soviets nuked not one, but five gas wells and four out of five times it worked well. the one time that failed was because they couldn't locate the path the gas was taking through to ground well enough to position the bomb correctly to push it shut.
