  1. and is what you're actually saying that you will start considering getting vaccinated against covid in 3-5 years? xD I can already tell you right now that the kids of mothers knfected with covid during pregnancy are in way more trouble than those of mothers vaccinated during pregnancy. of course you need to factor in the likelihood of you being infected in the future if you want to weigh the risks of infection vs vaccination, but in essentially all countries that still leaves vaccination as the safer option for all age groups.

  3. james thetruth the injection is generally painless or nearly painless because they use a very thin needle. there are pretty noticable side effects afterwards though, with the mRNA vaccines the second dose in particular feels like a weak flu for a day or two for most people. with the first one, my arm hurt more for 24 hours. but I got moderna, which feels worse than pfizer probably because of its 3 times higher dose. it pays off by being more effective against delta and possibly not having as much of an immunity drop over time.

  7. recovery from a registered covid infection is recognized as equivalent to vaccination for all the access stuff here in germany, but only for six months or so. I would still get vaccinated if I were you. what does seem to be clear from what I've heard is that vaccination still boosts immune response in recovered people, and that recovery+vaccination provides the best protection.

  9. you'll be fine, billions of other people have gotten covid vaccines and are fine, and AZ and pfizer are the most common ones, I think. the risk-benefit ratio of getting vaccinated depends on the chance that you have to be exposed to the virus in the future, but covid is so prevalent in almost every country that getting vaccinated constitutes an overall risk reduction to people of all ages, because the infection is way more harmful even to the least susceptible people than the vaccines are. the fact that most people you know are not getting vaccinated makes it an even better choice for you to be vaccinated, because they pose a higher risk of transmission to you than they would if they were vaccinated (and you are less likely to infect them since you are vaccinated). and the fact that apparently you have been telling people that you are vaccinated is likely to contribute to some of them considering vaccination eventually, when they see that it didn't harm you (because these people care more about nicki minaj's cousin's friend's balls type anecdotes than about study data). :)

  11. Cameron Rogers J&J should be used as a two shot vaccine equivalent to astrazeneca. J&J pushed it through the trials as a one shot to have their own market niche, and were apparently very successful with that. here in germany, J&J long was the one most widely accessible without appointment and from mobile vaccination stations, the idea being that it's given to homeless people and losers who can't be expected to come for a scheduled second dose. I thought from the first data points that I would think twice about getting J&J if it was the only offer for me, because it looked a lot like a trap in that I would officially be categorized as vaccinated and thus ineligible for the better vaccines, while actually having relatively low immunity, perhaps particularly to new variants. by the time I did get vaccinated, I had the option of an assigned mRNA vaccine and was given moderna. given the data I have seen since, that would now also be my first choice. :) well, moderna or sputnik V to be honest, because that stuff does seem to be a banger. here also is a one shot sputnik option called sputnik light which I'm pretty sure is better than J&J (I think they just use the first dose of sputnik V).

ShinTsu the german government recently put out advice on booster shots, I think it's that high risk people should get a third shot after 8 months, immune-compromised people should get a third shot as early as three weeks after the second, and anybody who got J&J should get a second shot (mRNA) any time after 5 weeks or whatever was the previous official "full vaccination" date for J&J. it still seems a bit silly to me to categorize J&J one-timers as more vaccinated than those who have gotten one dhot of any other vaccine, but I guess by now many of those people vaccinated early in the year have less protection than somebody who got J&J recently, but so far there is no expiry date on the vaccination status.
