I think the aesthetics must have been important to the customers. I'm sure there also were guns being made with no sights or decorative elements or attempts to copy something visually, but if you were seen with one of those, you would look like some farm boy who bought the cheapest gun he could get, whereas having a gun that in your hand or holster looked to any non-expert like a proper european military weapon would make you look like a soldier, perhaps even a soldier whose army has good relations with the west. it would probably have been combined with some sort of uniform or uniform-like clothing. these guns look ridiculous to us, but given the significant effort put into the looks, they would have definitely been some of the more expensive options. one thing I'm wondering, which ian doesn't seem to address in many of these chinese gun videos, is whether these have rifled barrels. that would be interesting to know.

I like the chaotic fake range markings and the fact that these pistols seem to have been made with large non-matching serial numbers on different parts. since I'm guessing that it's unlikely that somebody actually found parts of multiple of these pistols that fit together.
