if that really works by just having a spring strong enough to absorb the recoil entirely instead of having the bolt hit a solid piece of steel, that seems like an extremely obvious feature to build, and makes me wonder why it wasn't used earlier and also in lighter guns. even if you do shoot SMGs or assault rifles mostly in semiauto, the description sounds like building them this way doesn't add much to complexity, cost, or weight, so why wouldn't you? the only thing I can come up with is that the recoil springs are being stressed very hard and may require relatively frequent replacement. but how expensive can a spring be? it probably would cost a negligible amount compared to the amount of ammunition required to necessitate a speing change. it may even make other parts of the gun last longer or stay tight longer by saving the gun from those sharp impacts.
