the stock may be a replacement, but it sure looks appropriately nasty. if the stock design generally cracks in the middle there, why didn't they reinforce it? that could be done by gluing little wooden plates onto the crack-prone area at the end of the receiver with the fiber crossing at 45° or so. either just added on the sides, which would be easier and slightly stronger, or recessed and planed flush with the rest of the stock to yield the same stock dimensions as originally, but stronger. the recessed option in particular would require some focused quality control to ensure tight joints and use of decent glue that's somewhat moisture-resistant, but it would yield a very significant and reliable improvement of durability with an additional investment of manufacturing time that's almost negligible relative to what the metal parts require.
