  1. the french were NOT a formidable opponent in the second world war. they were literally defeated in a blitzkrieg, and then they were almost entirely finished and got gifted a fake winner status at the end of the war by their allies. they did fight, but they could hardly have lost harder.

  2. Wannabe On Mars in retrospect it seems like the french should have given the belgians the choice to either be on one side or on the other side of the maginot line, and extended it to the sea either way.
