Horny Fruit Flies well, there is more concern that there's actually going to be a soviet union again. some of the russians and especially the DPR/LPR troops are in fact larping as the red army, and it's going together with the "nazi ukraine" narrative. both the russian politicians and the russian propagandists are talking about the war in terms of a continuation of both the second world war and the cold war and proclaiming that they're aiming for a total expulsion of NATO from former warsaw pact territory and reestablishment of the former soviet sphere of influence. and though the opinion polls are not to be trusted entirely, they have A LOT more support for this than opposition from the russian people.
