  1. why did they use a piece of wood with a big branch and probably already some drying cracks in it for the stock of such an expensive gun? I wonder if there's a story for why somebody wanted that piece of wood to be used, because normally you wouldn't see that on any gun, except perhaps the very cheapest, because it's really a relevant structural weakness and likely to warp and crack a lot more with moisture changes.
