  1. the people who designed that wooden stock didn't understand wood. that lower strut is super fragile due to its diagonal grain, and the upper part that would be the grip on a normal rifle stock also cuts diagonal to the grain a big more than usual, which is entirely pointless because that's not usable as the grip. basically the whole stock could break off pretty easily, but most of all the lower strut and the pistol grip. normally pistol grips on wood-clad rifles are made of seprate pieces to align the grain with the grip, which makes it probably in the ballpark of 10 times more break-resistant. to have any chance of that stock design being non-fragile, itwouldneed to be either plywood or laminated in at least three layers, the middle one having vertically oriented grain.
