especially since by switching to a new car, you incur the car production's climate cost plus environmental damage at the locations of production and resource extraction. so really, people yhould be encouraged to drive old cars for longer if they still work adequately. that's the thing about environmentalism that never gets mentioned because it doesn't make anyone any money: reducing consumption is the most effective thing.
