a few years ago, some german soldiers got killed in mali or some other sahel country, and the news here called it a terror attack...even though they were ambushed ON PATROL, they were not just combatants but fully ready for combat! š¤¦āāļø

@mostafamohy8494 I'm sure all partisan resistance to n°zi occupation was routinely called "te°°orists", since I think I recall use cases as old or older, and it's been a very widespread term for a very long time. it has an official definition that depends on attacking targets not considered legitimate military targets with the aim of causing fear among civilians. but I have never heard of any use adhering closely enough to that to justify claiming that the word actually means that to anyone. instead, everybody seems to use it to mean "our evil illegitimate enemy". commonly, both opposing forces in a conflict routinely call each other "te°°orists". all uses of the term "ter°°rist" serve the purpose of professing one's allegiance to the cause of opposing the party being referred to, and expressing disrespect. or can you recall someone using the term "te°°orists" in reference to a group with whom they align in the conflict, or even are neutral towards? the term "te°°orist attack" is used marginally more precisely, but referring to groups and imdividual as "te°°orists" is done exclusively following the unofficial definition.
