  2. I'm not sure how UK law works, but if a station isn't running at it's licensed power in the US, they must notify the FCC and request permission to stay there. I believe this has to occur with-in a 30 day window. For example, there are several radio stations here in the normal climates running reduced power right now due to ice on the antenna who have filed notices with the FCC. tl;dr: A station in the US can't just run low power because they want to. There's a window of allowable output +/- your authorized power. (I think it's +/-10%...or at least that's when our transmitter alerts us anyway.)

  3.  @k.r.baylor8825  with the advent of FM translators for AM stations, there are now a lot of "crap channel" AMs in the US who are running music and brand with their translator frequency, and don't mention the AM signal outside of the TOH legal ID.
