  1. The 85 mph speedo was actually federally mandated from here late 70’s to the early the 80’s. Which meant when they were designing it, an 85 mph Speedo wouldn’t have been uncommon. In fact, they had to mod the one in the BTTF Delorean to read past 85 so Marty could hit 88.
