No, you don't get to pretend philosophical absurdity and your fantasy of how things work applies here. Why? It's because it's the exact same as saying "climate change is fine because there's positive effects too." But then it really does mean that those "positives" have to outweigh such negative effects or do they really matter? If the forest needs the fire to regrow itself... and the economy makes more money for the fire to burn down entire cities at a time... those are positives of the forest fire that wiped out thousands of peoples homes. But those people would likely not say the fire was a positive for them. And that you made that call for them because your home wasn't thrown into the furnace to keep the economy strong this year and that means it benefited some people and we should consider those benefits... is absurdity bordering on lunacy. And the exact same applies throughout the privatization of science, technology and medicine. You are looking at the shiney brass button on the butt of a giant about to sit on you saying gee... what a nice brass button... it's huge!

No, it's not like that... either you could afford to hire or had a good enough lawyer friend to prosecute your case and then waited for it or you didn't and couldn't get the assistance you deserve. No one's really fraudulently gaining from any of this... there's only poorly planned and implemented versions of a social support system.
