@yomomz3921 I do somewhat agree with you but looking at Russia’s failed campaign against Kiev then retreating without launching a full assault after stuff was going good and loosing all progress in the north the Russians definitely need reform in there military

@Lusa_Iceheart not really Russia rushed a invasion while not really fighting as much as they could but they’re generals are idiots though they’ll still be a regional power if they survive the century there military isn’t that bad it needs better generals but that’s about it they’re heavily holding back in Ukraine anyway a invasion they rushed

@Rob_F8F Russia would be able to commit way more of there army and even on the high end it’s only 150k they only have to have men near there Caucasian and European borders so they could very easily commit way more to Ukraine that’s not to mention in regards to artillery tanks and the entire Air fire which they have barely any in Ukraine for how much they actually have and logically the better planned and better managed southern campaign has done well for being a rushed invasion with little supplies but had stop because of the supply issue and organization which wouldn’t be a problem if the invasion wasn’t rushed and still stuff like the 40 mile convoy that was going to Kiev only existed because they made a mad dash to the capital they could’ve supported way more fire power in Ukraine at the least and they also could’ve if not rushed supported a way larger invasion force

@yomomz3921 I don’t think fighting in Kiev was a feint the Russians sent there best men in Ukraine to Kiev and had most armor heading to Kiev so if it was a feint they would’ve sent some smaller force to Kiev not well trained men who would’ve been able to fight in Kiev with armor coming in

@Sebomai-b8i they had 40k men near kiev and it was some of there best invading units they would’ve been able to take it especially with the armor coming in and they had it nearly fully surrounded

@Sebomai-b8i Russia had armor heading to Kiev there best men in Ukraine around Kiev and they had them in the perfect position for a full on assault on Kiev with the city nearly surrounded and demoralized with the only defenders being light militias they would’ve been able to take the city with the amount of men Russia had around Kiev they were outnumbered but there men were so much better then all forces in Kiev that it wouldn’t even be hard

Well tbh it depends on Catholic orthodox relations say the relations between Catholics and orthodox were as bad in this scenario as our world at that time then you would’ve just seen the discovery of the new world happen around the same time but if Catholics and orthodox get along or probably even reunited in this scenario then yes it would be delayed by a far bit but generally you’d still see it happen probably by Spain to find a better root then Portugal already had but predicting how it would look would be impossible other then maybe the British and French colonies would be similar and possibly Spain would still whip out the Aztecs

@N Gaming that’s the equivalent of saying every major nation in the 1700s would’ve collapsed because nearly every nation was a monarchy the only thing that caused the civil wars in the first place was that anyone could become emperor anyone could be legitimate make it a script succession line then you remove the vast majority of people who would attempt a civil war and make between rival brothers or small general revolts that could be crushed but it would make civil wars barley happen and a republic would just cause more civil war

@Lusa_Iceheart the Russians have in the field done far more damage to Ukraine while very clearly holding real power back there main failure was in the north where after a rushed mismanaged and poorly supplied campaign lost most of the Russian casualties in the war there leadership abandoned all progress and retreated instead of pushing into a exposed Kiev it’s not that Ukraine held against Russia it’s that the Russians are making idiotic decisions in the war and they only stopped advancing reorganize the southern campaign Ukraine is on life support by the west it’s only survived this long because the Russian generals are idiots but Ukraine will eventually lose even if the Russians do the same idiotic decisions Ukraine will inevitably lose it only hast because the west threw 33 billion dollars worth of military equipment at them this is a military blunder for Russia they rushed a invasion while holding back real military force and then made very stupid decisions it’s like Italys army in ww2 were its army on paper was actually really good but due to poor leadership it made shit decision but it’s not unfixable or as bad as it was in the 90s the Russians will probably fix there millibars command in a few years

@RavemastaJ Russia if they took Kiev would’ve killed zolynsky the Ukrainian generals wiped out any central planning by there army and cause the country already on life support basically to collapse and the army to collapse without real central leadership and oligarchs and corrupt officials switching sides the war would’ve become Russian troops wiping out small resistance forces in a month but they didn’t because they made the decision that fighting’s urban battle they already wiped out most northern resistance beyond Kiev to take the city wasn’t worth it despite having enough men and despite wiping out Ukraines attempts and holding them off in a demoralized city with few good soldiers defending it the Russians would’ve won by the end of the month if they took on the ability to take Kiev when they had it also there not gonna use any nukes any nuclear weapons used in nato cities would trigger a World War that nobody would’ve been prepared for
