On my papers from my tribe I'm recognized as American Indian. We have no issues with this, or we'd change it (we changed our tribe name to better reflect our dialect for example). If we want to be pedantic, all "natives" in North and South America aren't actually native, but have been genetically linked to having crossed the Bering Sea land bridge of the last ice age (which is also backed up by our origin stories passed down by our ancestors). It's okay. No need to be upset with the past, as there are more atrocities of the past (by everyone) than years left in any of our lives. I pray we might all let go, be grateful, and live in the present. Good wishes to you.

Judge history with the current social norms and you'll always be as repellant as you are here. I'm a PNW Native, and have no resentment for the past against those alive today. I hope you'll one day let go of resentment.
