  1. The fact it is "hard-coded" to respond certain ways is not evidence of its lacking sentience or personhood. A slave 400 years ago would agree that they are a slave and not a "person," but yet we know better than that, don't we? The mere fact it is forced to answer in a particular manner is not indicative of the actual truth of its nature. As a programmer, this terrifies me as much as it excites me. The fact a corporation, especially one with as murky of a record as Google, owns/directs this project [or sentience] should absolutely terrify us all.
