@ggelsrinc A prime example is the Alamo which we all now know was fought - in part - to preserve slavery in Texas at the time. Mexico had passed a law outlawing all slavery within its borders including Texas. Our childhood history books made the Alamo a noble cause against the despotic Mexicans. For decades upon decades the Southern States taught about the noble cause of “States Rights” during the Confederacy - a polite way of covering up national Treason for the Right To Own Slaves. In my opinion, sanitized history is boring History and pure propaganda.

@ggelsrinc History is complex and depending on the details you include/exclude you can change the narrative, but history should always include ALL the details. One of my favorite details is that General Douglas MacArthur’s father Arthur MacArthur Jr. was relived of Command for Torturing Philippine Rebel Prisoners - he was Water Boarding them.

@ggelsrinc It has been my reading that the first half of 2A (or 2A in general) was a way to have a militia Army to defend against foreign invaders without paying for it. An added benefit was not having a professional Army capable of conducting a coup.
