  1. Diane, are you not Grooming your children to be ignorant of History? Do you want the education of your children to stop at “Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492”? Isn’t it far more interesting to discover that Columbus was a very complicated man and that Isabella and Ferdinand were complicated people in a complicated Spain that had just finished the 700 year Reconquista that started in the year 718? Isn’t also interesting that the view of history changes depending on who is narrating?

  2. I take it you loved the sanitized history that was so bland and sterile that it left you with an understanding of NOTHING. I didn’t learn to love history until I got into the details of history. History is categorically ugly with winners & losers. History is full of Bad People doing Good Things & Good People doing Bad Things or vise versa. Grow up and enjoy the twists and murkiness of history.
