There is a difference between answering the question: when a heart beats and when a heart is fully developed. But a heart alone does not indicate life. It is possible to be brain dead and still have a heart beat. I encourage everyone to read up on fetal development so that your opinion is rooted in science and not fiction.

It may be possible to hear the heartbeat of an embryo from the fifth week of pregnancy. However, a scan at this stage is unlikely to show anything related to the embryo's heartbeat.
