  7. Leigh Rich Dams owned by federal agencies are self-regulated. Non-federal dams that produce hydropower are regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). These dams produce privately owned hydropower, therefore they are regulated by FERC. While it is true these dams have been in disrepair for some time Trump is still the president, the appointee was appointed by Trump, the decision to not take a more aggressive stance with theses dams is due to Trump’s distain for federal regulation or enforcement.

A grossly unqualified person (but loyal) to head up yet another important agency - and he failed to do his job and people suffered. Just like the 93,000 Dead Americans or the 30 million unemployed because Trump failed to do his job.

Because FERC had know about the problem for some time and would not force compliance. The best Trump’s grossly unqualified lucky could do was revoke the owners license. So EGLE assumed regulatory control to start making immediate repairs $300k worth and additional multimillion dollar extra spillway capacity repairs once they could arrange the purchase of the dam - a purchase that would have been signed in a matter of months. Bottom line, State and Local Government forced the issue with FERC because FERC was failing in forcing compliance. This is a massive problem all across the nation. A large percentage of older dams are privately owned and regulated by FERC. The FERC Chairman’s qualifications were outstanding - he was an energy staff consultant for Mitch McConnell. In other words another grossly unqualified Trump appointee.

State moved to buy Dam from Las Vegas Investor so they could make 10s of millions in Spill Way Repair and Capacity. 4. At time of disaster, Dam still Privately Owned and needed FORCED SALE TO MAKE EXTENSIVE REPAIRS NOT YET COMPLETED. Put this with most of your statement and you have a complete picture.
