And disgustingly Republicans are cheering Putin on.
23
Trump thought America was invading Ukraine at the beginning. Trump: "Well, I think the whole thing, again, would have never happened. It shouldn't happen. And it's a very sad thing," Trump said. "But you know what is also very dangerous is, you told me about the amphibious attack by Americans, because you and everyone else shouldn't know about it. They should do that secretly, not being doing that through the great Laura Ingraham. They should be doing that secretly. Nobody should know that, Laura."

@ParkerCharlesGabriel I am OK that she be removed as long as the 16 Republican Insurrectionist Traitors also get removed.

@Lifeiscoolandstuff “This is genius,” Trump said in a conservative talk radio interview at his Mar-a-Lago resort, echoing his past praise of the Russian president. “Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. He used the word ‘independent’ and ‘we’re going to go out and we’re going to go in and we’re going to help keep peace.’ You’ve got to say that’s pretty savvy.”

@Lifeiscoolandstuff Conservative commentator Candace Owens tweeted this week: “I suggest every American who wants to know what’s actually going on in Russia and Ukraine, read this transcript of Putin’s address. As I’ve said for month — NATO (under direction from the United States) is violating previous agreements and expanding eastward. WE are at fault.”

@Lifeiscoolandstuff Now some of his supporters see an admirable figure in Putin. That includes Mike Pompeo, who served as secretary of state under Trump and recently called Putin “savvy” and “very talented.” “I have enormous respect for him,” Pompeo said in a Feb. 18 call with the Center for the National Interest. “I’ve been criticized for saying that.” And he told Fox News: “He’s a very talented statesman. He has lots of gifts. He was a KGB agent, for goodness’ sakes. He knows how to use power.”

@Lifeiscoolandstuff Russian President Vladimir Putin operates within a well-established political framework. He is an autocrat with near-unilateral control over his country. Russia has elections, but no one is under the impression that the results will be allowed to pose a threat to Putin’s power. Personal freedoms are constrained significantly; opponents of Putin’s regime have a habit of succumbing to sudden illness and accidents. Yet American Republicans view him more positively than they do leading Democratic officials. Between Putin and President Biden, Putin wins.

@Lifeiscoolandstuff “How smart is that? And he’s going to go in and be a peacekeeper, that’s the strongest peace force—we could use that on our southern border,” Trump said, referring to American immigration politics and the border the U.S. shares with Mexico. “There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen—they’re gonna keep peace,” he said.

Because Putin is not interested in “peaceful negotiations”.
