I like how Treasonous Trump claims victory for dampening a 💩🔥 he started.

Mark Shumate Why yes it did... and your point is? Of all the wars this is the one that cost us virtually no lives, made a difference for people willing to do better, and form a Democracy. Treasonous Trump did not need to do anything, just tell Turkey no and keep our people in place. But instead he betrayed yet another Allie. TT has done more damage to the world and America than Putin could have done himself if he were our president.

fran bran I guarantee that the Turks would not have advanced if Treasonous Trump had been firm and not written that unfortunate letter. TT valued his Hotels in Turkey more than taking a Moral Stance.

fran bran I respect that you disagree. As a military person, both as an enlisted NCO and later as an Officer, I did not support the Iraq war or the Afghan war. Why, because we could not make a difference - a waste of lives and money. History, and culture, were very clearly against us in both these wars. But with the Kurds we have a group that is honest, non corrupt, willing to embrace democracy, and embrace religious diversity. The Kurds our worthy of our support. Erdogan would have never launched an incursion if he had received a clear message from TT. Instead TT sold the Kurds to protect his Hotels.

fran bran On another note: you might be interested in how the Kurds were disenfranchised by history - the British. The British put virtually no thought into the formation of the various state boundaries in the Middle East. Their primary focus was control and oil. Iraq and Iran had oil first... thus British control. The Saudi’s got sand, only several decades later did the Brits discover their miscalculation. In history you will find the truth and modern day motivations. My little post will not do justice to a very complex situation - it would take about 10 different books to began to understand all of the subtleties going on here. I would encourage you to go down that Rabbit hole. Start with the Roman history of the Middle East, then to the Byzantine, then to the Ottoman Empire, to WWI, back to Ottoman demise, to British and French Rule, WWII, and finishing up with modern day boundaries and dictators.

fran bran Just to be clear I served a 3 year enlistment, protected Germany from Russia, Fulda Gap, and got out as a Buck Sargent. Took my GI benefits and went to college. Joined ROTC came out as 2nd Lt served an additional 10 years until family became more important. All In the Combat Arms field Armor and Armored Cav. We probably agree more than we disagree. The dividing line between us would be TT. As an avid reader of history ,TT strikes me as dangerous to democracy and to the world if allowed free reign with no shackles. My goal in Posting is to try to point out TT as a danger to civil society - knowing full well it is a fools errand. But if I can get just one person to begin to read in depth history and politics it will all be worth it. I wish you well.
