However, please note the Headline is a Trump quote and most of the information in the article is about Trump quotes. Trump is notorious about getting his numbers wrong, facts wrong, and misquoting others - it’s just not his thing. In the article it is Trump talking 2.2 million deaths to make his probable count of around 100 -120k deaths in 2020 to look good - it’s Trump Talk, meaning never rely on anything he says.

  5. Chris Tamblyn A gentle reproach to you. Please carefully re read my last post. Testing has been an issues right from the start. Back in late January I had a bad cold that lasted 3 weeks. I had all the symptoms, including loss of taste, but no fever. As luck would have it 2 weeks into my “cold” I had a regular doctors bi annual exam scheduled. Put on my mask, disinfected my hands, let the office know in advance I might be infected, and went to see the Doc. He asked me my symptoms, asked if I was self isolating, and asked if I was getting better or worse. I said better, and he said good because our region has exactly 9 tests for over 150,000 people. This is back when Trump was saying anyone who wanted to get tested could get tested - it was definitely a lie then and is a half truth today. Despite 3 million tests (took forever to get there) our testing is on par with second world countries like Belarus on a per Capita basis.

  9. Chris Tamblyn Did you read this article, I did. First off it is an Opinion piece which is far different from an editorial piece. One is Opinion the other is news. The next issue is the person is drawing an extreme example of where things could end up if no one does anything. In other words the far right of a statistical bell curve. But in the end the article settles in around 100k.

  10. Chris Tamblyn Sloppy, sloppy, research dude. Did you not read the actual article again. There are a few key words you did not pick up on. The Municipality had an estimated Death rate of around .37. Municipality is the key word here. Regions, States, Counties, etc. are going to have variability due to additional factors. It may take a year or so to know the true stats on Covid19. Let me put it this way, 1 person driving drunk does not allow you to estimate how deadly they are. One State’s stats on deadly drunk driving may not be similar to another state - compare AZ to MI. But if you take all the states data sets you get a pretty solid number. Of course now that pot is legal in some states the disparity might even be greater between states.

  17. Chris Tamblyn I think I know what you are talking about. Cuomo must have said something. Chris I don’t know what your hang up on the lethality of Covid is. Most experts toss out a number of 2%, but they almost always tell you it will be some time before a good number can be derived. Take America, one Web site say 1.06 cases currently and 61,342 deaths. IF (conditional word) those numbers are relatively correct then the fatality rate is roughly 5.7. Odds are the cases recorded are grossly undercounted due to grossly inadequate testing. On another note, there have been several interesting articles on Covid Blood Clots, Covid Toe, Covid Rashes, Some children getting Covid, Covid Heart attacks, and Covid Damaging Organs. You might be interested. Bottom line Cuomo is no more a Virologist/Contagious Disease Expert than Trump is a Scientist. Until I see sufficient credible evidence to the contrary, I am comfortable with the 2% estimate. Many good scientists/doctors like Fauci are not in this for politics but for science and public service. If you come up with a good article, like the MIT one, I will gladly read it.
