***** Yes because we can totally trust the PR police in the media. Women just aren't capable of completing training like this. Physically. The fact that they had to go at it three times proves that the cadre were ordered to let some of them pass.

utubrGaming Yeah, bullshit. The standards were lowered so much that those ranger tabs aren't worth the thread used to make them. There is zero chance a female can legitimately pass Ranger school. It's a biological impossibility. Thanks Obama for turning the Rangers into a joke.
2
Dee Huff Bullshit. If females can't even pass USMC recruit training without having their own special training battalion and standards, how the hell are they going to pass a standard where most INFANTRY soldiers don't make it? Next you're going to tell me that there are legitimate female Raiders.
2
Cynical Zombie Yeah, except that the only way they passed is by lowered standards. Basically, by having women in Ranger school, you're basically requiring some of them to pass and in order for that to happen, they need to lower standards to the point of irrelevance. No biological female can EVER pass Ranger school without the standards being lowered. It's a biological impossibility. Why? Ranger school is designed to destroy MEN with the fitness of Olympic athletes. Do you honestly think women can compete with men who outweigh them two to one?

***** Yeah, only commonly available info and years of prior service experience. Nothing important. But please, show me data on recycle rates for Ranger school for say... 2005. I'd bet that it's a lot lower.

piggystriker2 I've trained with your Marines. They are tough, but they have nothing on Ranger school. Their training standards are about the same as the USMC. Ranger training is a whole other level.

***** I know that in my entire career in the USMC I have never seen a female who could meet the physical standards I set for my Marines. (I have yet to meet the female who could do twenty pull-ups.) It's not their fault, their bodies simply aren't built for it. Given that Ranger school is supposed to be as much a physical challenge as it is a mental one, I find it rather hard to believe that two females managed to meet standards if they were not lowered. Maybe I had too much respect for people who managed to earn Ranger tabs, but then, I never went to Ranger school. It might be easier than I thought. But one of two things must be true. 1. Ranger school is not the grueling ordeal that people describe it as. (At least not on the level of similar schools in other services.) or 2. The the standards were lowered to allow females a chance to pass. I know for a fact that no female could make it through BRC or SSBC. Much as I admire the fortitude of female Marines, I know that a female Marine simply is not capable of the same things as a 250b leatherneck. As I said, it's not their fault, but muscle density and endurance simply don't lie.

Dee Huff That's a nice sentiment, but it basically means that ranger tabs are not what they used to be. If the Army wants Ranger school to basically be an advanced leadership course, that's fine. But let's stop pretending that graduating such a course is some sort of major accomplishment if it is.

DaHuntsman1 Spend thirteen weeks on the Island and tell me how "overrated" Marine recruit training is. The difference between Marines and Soldiers is that Marines are far more proficient with individual marksmanship. Unfortunately, the Army doesn't even do a 500 meter qualification anymore.
1
DaHuntsman1 Is that why the Army consistently gets whooped by the Marines in marksmanship competitions? The reality is that Marines haven't been dependent on the Navy for transport in decades. We operated in both Iraq and Afghanistan with little if any Navy support. Modern Marines are less seaborne infantry and more of a national level QRF. You can put a Marine task force on the ground with equipment anywhere in the world within a few days. Even Airborne units take longer to spin up. I'd say that every 03 Marine would fit in just fine in the 75th. Reason being is that our mode of operation requires us to have a higher proficiency level than the average Army grunt. We also have organic armor, air support, and artillery at the task force level.

Dee Huff Oh please... Ranger school is about as much about leadership as BUDS is. It was supposed to be a training school for some of the best light infantry in the world. Now, it's basically a ticket punching machine for people with stars in their eyes. For crying out loud, I know a 14A O4 who has a ranger tab. I was suspicious when I met guys like him (great guy, but he's a POG's POG), but this seals the deal.

***** Both of the "graduates" were recycled completely through the program three times. It is unheard of for someone to get three shots at Ranger school. Two occasionally happens, but is incredibly rare. Let's simple it up. 18 women went in, 2 came out, but only after being allowed to retry three times. I guarantee you that the retry rate is much higher than for male applicants. Ranger School is not something you get to keep trying until you pass.
