So... We're supposed to respect a "trial" that was performed in absentia with no one to speak in defense of the accused? Really? We don't even do that to terrorists. Perhaps we should simply try these terrorist collaborators in Italy in absentia for material support of a terrorist organization and then simply send in a SEAL team to execute the fuckers?

KALASH They get trials and access to lawyers. Try again.

therand0m1talian Please explain how a lawyer can defend a client that's not present for the proceedings... I'll wait. Hell, even the scumbags in GITMO get lawyers who actually MEET with them.

chamade166 That's rich... The US ranks 17th lowest in the world on the CPI, Italy ranks 69th. Below wonderful countries like... Malasia (50th) Botswana (31st) Chile (21st) Hell... Let's take a look at a few other EU member nations... Spain (37th) Portugal (31st) France (26th) Austria (23rd) In fact, the only major EU countries that do better than the US are Germany (12th) and the UK (14th) Though in reality their scores are rather close. US 74 UK 78 Germany 79 Compared to Italy's dismal 43. It will be a cold day in hell before the EU can lecture the US about government corruption. Source: http://www.transparency.org/cpi2014/results

Raul Pinto That's why it's a statistic gathered objectively by a third party NGO. In any case, lobbying isn't what you think it is. In reality, it's a vital part of the democratic process where groups of interested constituents can band together to contact their representatives. It's not perfect, but it's not the suitcase of money situation that most liberals picture.

SCARSSURVIVED You can't perform a trial in absentia. It basically denies the accused the right to defend themselves against the accusation.
1
SCARSSURVIVED Apples and oranges. If you walk onto a battlefield, you're giving up your right to a trial before a soldier shoots you in the face.

SCARSSURVIVED Yeah... Omelettes and eggs. There is no such thing as innocence.
1
SCARSSURVIVED They are guilty of something. If nothing else, they are guilty of wasting the court's time.
1
SCARSSURVIVED Here's an idea... Don't put yourself in a situation where you could be accused of a serious crime.

SCARSSURVIVED Progressive.org You have failed to argument.

SCARSSURVIVED Here's the fun part. As of Jan 20th, 2017... WE ARE IN CHARGE.
1
SCARSSURVIVED Yeah... Still in charge. Welcome to reality. The US rules the world. The rest of the planet does as they are told, or gets nuked into air pollution.
