There are exceptions and they filter their way up and down. Face it, rich families tend to be rich because they make better decisions than poor families. As for "underfunded" schools. The public elementary schools get more money per student in poor areas than in "rich" areas. Yet... The poor can't even be bothered to make their kids attend school regularly. (See Chicago as an outstanding example.) Coincidentally, most of this extra money doesn't go to the school, it goes to inflated teacher's salaries and pensions. 3. Except that when you are not paying for your degree, you are not motivated to make sure that you are actually learning anything. State control of education is absurd. The government has no place in any educational facility, much less a university. It is not part of a government's legitimate purpose. As for Scandinavian countries... There is a reason why they are the laughing stock of the western world. (Or do we need to talk about Sweeden?) As for your "wants" That is the definition of communism. There is a wonderful Japanese saying. "Those who don't work, don't eat." Oh, and progressive taxes are nothing more than highway robbery. Why should I pay more in taxes when I am getting the exact same (if not fewer) services? Why don't you move your ass to Russia? I hear they are all about communism over there.
