+Darth Vader Yeah, because fuck the democratic process, human rights, and the self-determination of the people who actually live there? Right?
37
Darth Vader Ah yes... The "free democratic european country" that responds to elections they don't like with heavy artillery.
21
Darth Vader Really? So all those apartment buildings you fuckers shelled were full of terrorists? Here's a fun fact, under the UN charter, when they voted to secede, you had to let them go.
20
Darth Vader You mean the same army busy killing civilians in job lots? From where I sit, that sounds like self-defense.
13
Darth Vader Yes... How many actual terrorist attacks happened in Ukraine? Would that be ZERO? I think it would. Because fuck human rights. Cole Lassell The recognition of the UN is irrelevant. The charter applies regardless.
12
Inigo Montoya You're fucking ignorant. I hate to break it to you, but the only "bad guys" in this story are the guys to used troops to negate a vote they didn't like. If this was in the middle east, you would be screaming about sanctions against Ukraine.
10
Masked Vigilante The opinion of the rest of Ukraine is irrelevant. They don't live there, they don't get a vote. As for the UN charter, it recognizes a human right to self determination, that's what happened and Ukraine can suck a dick.

+windinhishare Who was the one that sent troops into Donbas? I don't seem to remember Russian troops there when the fighting broke out.
3
Seth9809 You mean the sort of people who would actually be refugees? Gee, what a novel concept.
2
windinhishare You do realize that the majority of DPR and LPR fighters are not Russian? Right? Most of them lived in the region since long before Ukraine was a country.
2
101chickendance Influence doesn't change the fact that the regions had a human right to determine their own status per the UN Charter.
2
Javier VS If the Durka Durka fits.

Seth9809 Funny how that "90%" is almost entirely made up of fit military age males... Go figure.
1
Seth9809 1. The problem is the ratios dipshit. Or do you expect me to believe that the population of Syria is 90% military age males? 2. I DID enlist dipshit. I spent multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Now I have another job.
1
Seth9809 So you claim that boats capsizing is responsible for the massive demographics swing? Do you even math bro?
1
Seth9809 Fit military age men without dependents? Sure. That would make sense, actually. If you don't like how your country is run, fight to change it. That's what real men do. If I lived in Syria, I'd be too busy fighting to go to Europe.

Seth9809 PTSD is the inevitable result of watering down our military training. Unfortunately, people who were not prepared for real world combat were sent into it. How many Spartans do you think suffered from PTSD? Roman legionaries? Was their combat any less brutal than modern warfare?
1
Seth9809 That would be relevant if I used them as an example. Conscripts make pathetic soldiers. Again, my examples were Sparta and Rome.
1
Seth9809 It's the warrior mentality. A Spartan was trained to be the most merciless killing machine of the Greek world. The Roman legionnaire was trained to be one of the hardiest soldiers in human history. (These guys were known for marching 40 miles per day with heavy loads while wearing SANDALS.) By comparison, modern recruits are coddled to absurdity. That means that they are mentally unprepared for combat. They simply aren't tough enough.
