Chinese would give Deng the honor for his efforts to reverse the Cultural Revolution, and esp by giving the education opportunity back to the students and canceling the devastating Send-Down movement as well as trying to recover the scientific technologies and literatures and at the same time resuming the older generations of intellectuals jobs and reputations.

  3. Though Hua was named by Mao, he didn’t have experience in military and too young. Few older generation military officials respected him, while Deng was one of those who started with Mao from the very beginning and experienced on battlefields. Hua only arrested the Gang of Four under the pressures from the older military officials and also Deng though Deng wasn’t quite in full power, yet. That’s why Hua had to step down and it was the right thing perceived by most Chinese then.
