The clergy in The Free State ( Ireland) laced their sermon’s at the time full of burning churches, raped Nuns and babies on bayonets, my Grandfather ( may God rest his soul) was going to fight for Franco, but as in those days you worked your way anywhere when you were poor. He got as far as London met a Girl, fell in love and got married instead, working running a Pub landlord .Three years later he joined the Army ( so he missed his old pub being blown to pieces in the Blitz ) and went fight the Italians and Germans to protect his family, he didn’t get home until 1946. Thanks Grandad, respect.
