@PeterCampbell1 From what I hear it was actually a very well executed evacuation, never an easy military manoeuvre, I believe... As for the rest of your comment, I agree Russian progress appears slow, but I suggest they are nonetheless winning and, once they take Donbas, which I predict will happen fairly soon, will have already achieved many of their objectives. I reckon from there they will probably move on Odessa and possibly also Kharkiv. But your point about at what price is a very good one. My speculation is the price will be a new Cold War, not between NATO and Russia, but between NATO and an alliance of China and Russia. There wasn’t many bridges (political and economic) linking the West and Russia before the invasion, but those that were are being systematically destroyed. Not good for us all, is my conclusion.

Yes, possibly. Alternatively, maybe they were like the Mongol general who, when asking how far he was expected to march west, was told “until they stop you”. My guess is the Russians speculated that UKR could have collapsed like a pack of cards and reckoned it was worth a shot.

@helenlozinski3072 This article is about a right wing militia operating with the blessing of the UKR state and receiving help from Western taxpayers. A UKR right wing political party, with members that are happy to have NZ tattoos (that are just “edgy”) that has a state sponsored armed militia wing. You don’t think that’s dodgy? Let’s stay on point here. How many “social conservatives” do you know with NZ tattoos?

@helenlozinski3072 No, you’re deliberately avoiding talking about UKR. There are plenty threads talking about Russia and Putin. This isn’t one of them. Why are you so determined to deflect discussion away from UKR?

I think he was reporting EXACTLY what they wanted him to report. “NZ tattoos aren’t the same there as they are in the West, they’re just “edgy”., “doesn’t mean anything much “. (like the entire world doesn’t know with crystal clarity what SS and a swastika means…?) They’re a mixed bag” “They just want to be badass” ….. Yeah, and I’m Elvis…. What I seen was a dodgy, ultra-nationalist, neo-fascist militia under minimal state control armed to the teeth with modern weapons my taxes help to pay for! The guy Roussinos is naïve - at best.
