@lance8080 Nope, the guy is right and you're wrong. This company is nowhere close to the 2nd biggest EV manufacturer in China (closer to the 2nd smallest) and I doubt they ever were. Do even superficial research and you'll find that out. He's also right about it being logical to expect that some Chinese EV makers will go to the wall. Some probably will, but others look set to continue to grow and prosper. China made some clever and visionary decisions decades ago regarding the global auto industry and they're starting to reap rewards. The West, on the other hand, didn't and rested on their fossil fuel laurels instead. They're now paying the price for being asleep at the wheel.

@TheRealSmazz Where I come from (Scotland) the biggest car dealer (Arnold Clark) now sells EVs from at least 3 Chinese companies, including MG that is starting to sell well. How come I haven’t heard of any issues with them? Surely by now if there were any serious problems these would be apparent? Could it be there’s actually nothing wrong with them?

@Spoopball Regarding auto manufacturing, can you provide the data you have based your suggestions on? I’d like to see evidence that cars from BYD for example are (deliberately) made significantly differently and to a lesser quality for the Chinese market.

@TheRealSmazz No, the way this works is - if you state something then it's up to you to substantiate. I don't mind if that's relevant links or whatever, but so far all we have is you saying stuff. So can you please substantiate your claims with specific reference to auto manufacture.

@Storm4155 Yup, this channel is hopelessly biased. The Chinese are no angels (none are) and the Chinese economy is slowing down these days (albeit still strong), but if you believed this propagandist nonsense you'd have to believe the CPC won't last until Xmas. Didn't know about the FLG connection, but far from surprised.

@tjkan262 I believe that will happen. It appears the next material that might be used in mass scale is sodium, which is abundant and ubiquitous. There’s just too much money and resources being thrown at battery tech to not expect significant developments.

Fair enough, but pretty much every government in the world has now stated they believe climate change to be a critically dangerous issue. To the extent that $ trillions is going to be spent transiting us away from fossil fuels. Including your diesel vehicle.

Who are "they"..? Can you source that specific report please, since any sensible person would put car sales predictions in the year 2100 in the science fiction section. Personally I doubt there will even be an auto industry as we currently understand at that point As for your numbers - here is what the most common source of data on the web says "The automotive industry in China has been the largest in the world measured by automobile unit production since 2008. Since 2009, annual production of automobiles in China accounted for more than 32% of worldwide vehicle production, exceeding both that of the European Union and that of the United States and Japan combined" Also - "In the first half of 2023, China overtook Japan to become the world's largest exporter of automobiles, exporting 2.34 million vehicles compared to 2.02 million for Japan."
