@DavJack Way to demonize. Criminals are still human, and they're also not all the same kind of human. In any case, this isn't so much about criminals. As the video exemplifies, these insights have broader implications than just how we treat criminals.

I would hesitate to draw generic lessons from highly religious communities. They tend to be highly charitable in general, whether they're subject to tax or not. Also tend to direct a lot of that charity 'inwards' btw i.e. either towards their own community, or for particular causes their community has adopted as part of its overall identity (which could even be for activities far away from their home turf). I'm skeptical that behaviour would genericize very well onto much less religious and/or much more varied populations.

That depends on the costs imposed by paying the carbon tax versus the costs incurred by trying to avoid paying it i.e. compliance. If the former is lower than the latter, then they're more competitive by just copping the tax than by becoming more sustainable.
