@dorianodet8064 Funny how that thinking is suddenly forgotten whenever the west talks about Chinese loans. Apparently they're expected to be charitable, but you aren't. And the reason why the IMF is resented is because they mismanage economies too. Their Structural Adjustment Programs are a long list of sordid failures. People blame them cos the policies they push seem designed to benefit western creditors and businesses more than anyone else.

@philoslother4602 By that same logic, if they want Chinese money, then they have to accept their conditions. Which are even far less interventionist than those of the IMF - literally just the standard business loan expectation of payback. Yet when they extend credit the west raises a stink over it. But it's okay when you take over the whole country with loans..
