@willthecat3861 How many Taiwanese universities do you know of? And yet who makes the most advanced chips in the world?

@willthecat3861 Btw ironically China's Tsinghua ranks higher than any Taiwanese university. So they've even got that over Taiwan, besides a sheer numerical advantage of engineers. Basically if Taiwan, Korea and Japan have been able to do it, without any of them having MIT, that just makes China's case stronger, and the US' case weaker as it failed despite having MIT

@willthecat3861 'The US is not interested in fabs' he says, about the country that literally passed a law to achieve just that, and even courted the world leader in fabs to push them to make a fab in America. And the US military literally imports chips. Hell the US even literally imports ships from the same nations it imports chips from. Meanwhile China already leads in ship building and is seeking to expand its domestic chip fabs as well now.

@willthecat3861 You don't HAVE point bub. You just keep repeating the same claim, based on nothing.

@sealandsand1225 Too much is made out in the media of the supposed concentration of the semiconductor industry. In truth chips are made in countries all over the world, even Thailand makes chips. TSMC just gets all the attention cos of geopolitics and cos they make the most advanced chips. However most things that use chips neither need nor want the most advanced chips, and consequently that isn't even where the biggest shortage of chips is. That Dutch firm also serves only TSMC's very high end needs, not the whole chip industry. Asianometry has a good summary of where The Real Chip Shortage is. Watch it.

Also to answer the OP's second question, chips will be sold to whoever assembles the things that use them, like computers and phones. Which in many (though not all) cases is China. A few will be kept for domestic American consumption of course.

@willthecat3861 Source: trust me bro! 😆 Gotta love how you even think you know all about me too. 😏

@willthecat3861 Sure, Mr. Intellectual Lion, sure...😏

@WANDERER0070 America understands 'self-defense' as preserving its hegemony rather than how everyone else understands it as just protecting their home territory. That's what got them into Vietnam for instance. Another nation to fall to communism was a 'threat' to America i.e. American interests. Doesn't matter if they never touched American soil. Americans like to pretend every war they've ever waged has been defensive lol. 😂
