@ebonyharris2263 Yeah but Japan agreed to the Plaza Accords, to its cost. I doubt you'll ever get China to do that.

'china's economy relies heavily on export' - nope! Exports are less than fifth of their gdp. For examples of actual export dependent economies, look at Japan or Germany, where it's closer to half. Also all these steps do is curtail their exports to the US, but China exports to the whole world. It's literally the majority trade partner of the most nations on Earth already.

The country with the highest currency reserves in the world is 'broke' in your view lol...

@tomflavin7139 Two words - Plaza Accords. Ofc China would never agree to such a thing, but Japan did.

@doujinflip It curtails it in America, but doesn't achieve much globally. The only part of any of this that affects it globally is the chip ban, which is why they're investing in their own production. All the tariffs do is reduce its presence in the US market, and the US' attempts to build its own manufacturing won't threaten it as US manufacturing isn't competitive.

@doujinflip 'This is especially hazardous to the CPC whose continued legitimacy and tolerance by the Chinese people' - spoken like someone who knows nothing of China's history lol. The CCP has seen far worse times than anything you could even hope to put them through, and survived all of it. They're not gonna fall so easily.

@doujinflip 'Chinese state support allows Chinese companies to charge the lowest prices' - Chinese manufacturing is already not price competitive with making stuff in other, poorer nations. Which is why they've been offshoring their own manufacturing to those countries, like Vietnam and even Mexico. So much for state support subsidizing prices. Also China is literally the worlds' biggest creditor nation, not debtor lol. The debts you've been hearing about are all internal.

@doujinflip Whatever. Point is you can't dislodge them. Just as with Iraq, you'll be hurting ordinary people just to satisfy your ego and pretend you're achieving something. Except unlike with Iraq, they can hurt you back. And you have no idea just how bad these nations can make things if you push them to. It's only their cooperation that is keeping space free of strategic weapons for instance. You can't stop them from doing it if they choose to. They don't need to conquer you in order to make your world much, much worse. This fight isn't worth it.

Are you forgetting that all this nonsense was literally started by a certain orange US president. They didn't declare the war, the US did. Even more ironically his opponent came to power on the back of attacking said leader, only to continue the same lol.

That's a great way to make them just shift elsewhere, like Europe lol. These companies already register in tax havens just to avoid paying what they legally owe, what makes you think they'll bend over if you try shit like this?
