@KashiARTW China leads in a whole slew of industries already compared to Taiwans' one. Shipbuilding, electric cars, solar power, etc. Hell they're not part of the International Space Station, so they just made their own space station. And Japan first developed under a monarchy, and has a very flawed democracy to this day. South Korea developed under a dictatorship, and so did Taiwan. Both only became democracies decades later, with the former being a highly corporatist oligopoly even now.

@prst99 It wasn't outclassed in cost effectiveness, much like the Russian T-series tanks were much better than their western counterparts relative to their cost. US and UK planes were several times harder to produce than the Zero was. The extreme end of this scale was actually the Germans, with highly advanced and highly impractical weapon systems - including the first jets!

@henryvegter8773 "will improvise, adapt and overcome" - and this doesn't apply to the Dutch somehow then? Funny how the people you like are supposedly infinitely adaptable, and the people you don't are somehow incapable of adaptation.
