China can't take control of the Indian heartland, but neither can India do much to China (including Tibet). As an Indian, China actually invading anywhere except the north-east doesn't concern me, cos they'll get nowhere - and they likely already know that. What does concern me is what they achieve with all the poking and prodding - distracting our attention, influencing our politics and re-allocating our resources from where we'd otherwise put it. China isn't gonna conquer the country, they're trying to undermine it.

@mishrachabra4471 Yes, that's why I mentioned the NE. Not because of China's claims there (they have claims on other areas too), but because the NE is the one region they can perhaps succeed in annexing - due to our geographic weakness known as the Siliguri Corridor aka 'the Chicken Neck'. That's why it's crucially important for India to be on good terms with Bangladesh, as being able to cross through their territory may be necessary in case of an actual Chinese invasion there.

@mishrachabra4471 The Chinese aren't going to invade Taiwan. That'd be dumb as it would cost them billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of men all for very little benefit - what use is a bombed out husk of an island with a rebellious population? More likely they'll blockade it, draw the US to the area to annihilate them close in, and then perhaps offer the Taiwanese some sort of peace deal with effectively puppet status (most likely an agreement to not allow any foreign military forces on their soil, as well as an extradition deal for Chinese dissidents). Taiwan is more valuable to China as is, it's the US that's the real problem. Taiwan is to China what Cuba was to the US - and we all know how the US treated Cuba for being too close to the USSR. If they can nullify the American threat, the island itself is more valuable as a rich trading partner than as a restive and damaged annexed province.

@mishrachabra4471 Assuming Bangladesh is still friendly. We're not exactly doing great when it comes to keeping our neighbours on good terms...
