The problem is that it's just a LOT more economical to keep using existing power plants that are still good for decades yet - despite how polluting they are. We already have multiple economical options for clean power when it comes to new power plants - the issue is making the case for prematurely replacing all the old ones.

  3. As if anyone holds the US accountable lol. Besides, China has been investing massively into renewables, while the US denied there was even a problem. The reason China's emissions have risen is due to the sheer scale of their energy consumption, which they've needed coal to make up the shortfall. But they've also been more aggressive in pivoting to green energy than almost anywhere else.
