@weasle2904 If Greenlands' experience goes anything like Puerto Rico, then no they wouldn't do too well under the US. People seem to imagine China will mistreat its colonies, but conveniently forget that Europe and even the US already have a history of doing so. And yes, I just called Puerto Rico a colony.

@MovieRiotHD Have you checked the recent history of virtually the entire west? China's operations in Africa are really tame, which is why the Africans are accepting of them in the first place. And I'm not even talking about ancient history - the west mistreats its territories (for instance, see Puerto Rico for the US) and/or interfered heavily in subservient govts. (the Africans know a lot about this - google 'Structural Adjustment Programs') even to this day. Meanwhile, all the Chinese do is cold hard business - they don't have many conditions, which is what the Africans like about them.

@MovieRiotHD As opposed to being actually colonial? China has demanded a lot less of Africa so far than the west traditionally has. If it ramps up its demands, that'd just be the return of an old friend - exploitation. They're used to that. It'll make them hate the Chinese, but I don't see why they should hate them any more than the west, which already did that, and worse, to them. In the meantime, what would you have them do? They need someone to do business with, and the west is a much more demanding partner, even in modern times (the SAP's aren't colonial era policies, for instance). So yeah, they might as well bet on China. It's the best option they've got.

@carmaster95 Lol. A couple parties versus entire national movements and govts. formed in rejection of western (via the IMF) impositions. I never said Africans love the Chinese. They choose them because they need someone to work with, or think they do, and the Chinese are both the easier option (less demanding) and don't already have a history of fucking things up yet (at least in Africa). Sure going it alone would be ideal, but evidently they (or at least some of them) don't think that's viable yet. You need to switch targets - in order to convince me you don't need to prove the Chinese could be bad, but rather that the west wouldn't be. Good luck with that, given that they already have an extensive history of being very bad (even if we only consider the modern era).
