@imran4006 Sri Lanka invading India would be like Cuba invading the US lol. They know they'd stand no chance, and are so close they'd be dead if they tried. Besides which, they don't even have a major beef with India, so why would they? A few foreign debts are hardly something to risk suiciding your whole nation over.

The problem with blockading the Malacca Strait is that it isn't just China that is affected. All the downstream and surrounding nations will be hit, hence none of them will be in favor of it. Just cos India and China are at war doesn't mean any of them will want to get involved. And that makes it a tricky maneuver to pull off. It's not like blockading the Sea of Japan, which only affects Japan.

@sameerjunaid5192 As if Nehru had much choice. Even Patel was a realist - whatever his preferences for Tibet, it was militarily annexed, and there wasn't anything India could have done to undo that. Not only would we have had to go up against the Chinese army, we'd have been doing it on the other side of the Himalayas aka well beyond supply range.

They're not surprised at all. They expected it, hence why they're distracting India with northern land tensions. And judging by those reduced naval budgets, they're so far being fairly successful at it.

@delgermuruntsagaankhuu6951 Selective blockades are a lot easier said than done, and much more vulnerable to circumventing. In any case, even just blockading China will still affect them, and hence they'll still be nervous about playing ball with it.
