I find it exceedingly funny (and I say this as a Gary Johnson fan, not a GOPer) that the same Republicans who once excoriated the "left wing media" are now latching on to a story originally spawned by the same groups; this particular claim evolved out of the left and was very quickly adopted by GOP friendly media specifically because they're terrified of Trump's skyrocketing support. And Trump skipped the debate and yet still, by most measures, won it- which was the point all along.

  20. Kasich is incapable of becoming the nominee. You have to win eight states to be considered on the second ballot. Kasich has won just one state and has no chance at all of winning seven more. As such, any delegates he has are unbound on the second ballot and his name won't be there to vote for. As for Cruz he can't compete in most of the remaining (northeastern) states. Trump is the inevitable nominee.

  25. I'm a Gary Johnson supporter. But Trump would undoubtedly be the strongest candidate able to face off against the (likely) democratic nominee AKA Hillary. Trump's support among centrist unions could turn the lakes states red, and it's clear he has unusually strong independent support as well. Rubio meanwhile would utterly collapse if he had to debate someone like Hillary, who gets fed talking points from within the white house itself.

  48. Not even remotely hard. Between New York and California (safe Trump strongholds) he'll get a quarter of the delegates he needs. After tomorrow I expect Trump to be about halfway there- more if he wins Missouri (now likely but not certain.) Add to this states he's comfortably ahead in (New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, Indiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Washington State) and that's almost the 1237 right there. Actually I'm pretty sure it gets him beyond the needed total. Add any one or two heartland or midwest regions and he locks it in. Plus he won't have to worry after tomorrow about Rubio taking any delegates because he won't be running anymore. Cruz will sweep most of the heartland up, for a total of under 250 additional delegates and is doomed. Kasich will be unlikely to win any states other than Ohio.
