  5. Trump is the inevitable nominee. Now is the time to prepare for the general election against equally inevitable Hillary. You should be thanking your lucky stars- Trump is the strongest candidate since Reagan and Hillary arguably weaker than Mondale, who was equally out of step with the youth and with working class suburban white voters. I foresee a landslide for Trump; he will turn the lakes region into a group of swing states and probably walk away not just with Ohio but also Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. He will retain the entire deep south (an area Bubba cracked apart in the 1990s with massive turnout in urban communities.) He has an outside shot of even turning New York red because his hometown happens to be the one blue part of an otherwise largely red state (upstate New York is red with the exception of Albany and its outlying areas.) He would lose Iowa because of his somewhat lower appeal to the far right republicans there, but New Hampshire would likely go red along with Vegas-centric business democrat Nevada.

Ultimately Cruz will be a (very) distant second and Kasich will be in a distant third, having at least won his home state- unlike Rubio. Trump is also extremely likely to not just defeat Hillary (who is also inevitable) because of his ability to energize independent voters and 80s era centrist democrats to vote for him, but is likely to absolutely annihilate her and sweep up even former solid blue states like New York and Michigan.

  19. Not much of a rebuttal there you have. Ted Cruz has made a fatal error; he's still in the primaries- Trump has already entered the mode of a general election. He knows that someone like Cruz fucks themselves by throwing themselves far to the right, only to screw up their own turnout by looking weak when they have to move back to the center, while it helps the DNC by infuriating younger democrats, driving their turnout up. This was Romney's mistake with his 47% comments in the last cycle. Not since Reagan has a republican candidate ignored most of the wedge issues to focus on a small core of larger, centrist talking points- the slow decline of evangelism has made it possible for Trump to prosper. He will win New Hampshire and South Carolina and now has a fairly good chance of winning Iowa; and if he gets all three, it's going to be just shy of impossible for anyone to pose much of a challenge on super tuesday. If you still think Cruz will be the nominee let's set this comment area aside until around mid march and return to it then.
