Militia groups don't make me feel threatened, but they don't make me feel any safer unless their founding goal is truly constitutional- I'm not sure what this move will accomplish except to stir up even more partisan tensions. However, the right of these groups to form, carry weapons, and yes, patrol the border, is indisputable; there is no law whatsoever preventing citizen militias from patrolling, and there's also no law to prevent them from keeping immigrants on the other side of the border. But at the same time laws also protect refugee minors- although I have a feeling these groups will be focusing mostly on cartels and so forth.

***** Horrible as it was it was, at the time, constitutional, until overturned. And actually the militia originated as the military itself; the US had no standing army in its early years.
