When my Father was demobbed in 1977 after serving 22 years he was lucky, he and my Mum were given a council house and Dad got a job quite easily, also he was lucky he did not suffer from mental health issues.
How things have changed, it is a disgrace when these people have protected and served King, Country and layed down their lives and they are just dismissed and left to fend for themselves.
Being in the services is not easy you spend years away from your home, quite often spending long periods away from you partners and children facing an enemy and being prepared to lay down your life.
When my Father was serving it was a different time, he joined during National Service and met my Mum who was also serving in the Army, our country was proud of our service men and women, our government was proud of our Service men and women, now the Government and many of our people treat our armed services with contempt and disrespect.
Our Government should find room to build blocks of one bedroomed flats in all areas of the country dedicated to our service men and women, who do not have a home to got to for whatever reason.
Having small blocks of flats dedicated to service people would help them to settle in to civvy street in a place where they had other service people to help each other acclimatise to life.
The government have managed to find houses which they have turned into multiple occupancy dwellings for illegal immigrants so why can't they do the same for our service people before housing illegals or delicate hotels to service people instead of illegal immigrants.
Put our Service men and women first, they deserve it after the sacrifice they have made for our country
